Bobby Jindal
Louisiana Governor - Election 2007
Bobby Jindal’s Winning Strategy
Targeted “cultural conservatives” outside of the New Orleans media market
Creative Direct was retained by the Republican Governors Association (RGA) to help elect Bobby Jindal as Governor of Louisiana. After examining voter trends, past election results and pouring over voter survey data, we recommended targeting “cultural conservatives” outside of the New Orleans media market. All of these voters lived in areas Bobby Jindal underperformed against past GOP candidates in his 2003 race for Governor. That year, Bobby Jindal lost every Parish, except one, in the northern part of Louisiana – a major reason he lost that campaign Governor.
We determined that Democrat Walter Boasso was the biggest threat to Bobby Jindal with the voters in our mailing universe. Creative Direct created a series of mailings which highlighted Boasso’s liberal positions on issues important to “cultural conservatives.”
Creative Direct’s smart targeting helped Bobby Jindal win 42 out of 44 targeted Parishes and win the election with over 54% of the vote to Walter Boasso’s 17% – avoiding a costly runoff.
