Creative Direct helped Sonny Perdue win the biggest upset of the 2002
election year, defeating incumbent Governor Roy Barnes to become Georgia’s
first Republican Governor since Reconstruction. In his 2006 re-election
campaign, Sonny Perdue again turned to Creative Direct. Working closely
with Target Point Consulting, media consultant Fred Davis, the Georgia
GOP and the Perdue campaign, the most sophisticated and aggressive
microtargeting and voter contact program in state history was developed and implemented. Twenty different issue mailings were sent to key target groups
to increase turnout and persuade key undecided voters. Based on early polls
everyone expected a tight race between Governor Perdue and Democrat
Mark Taylor. But after running one of the nation’s most effective campaigns,
Governor Perdue was re-elected by a 20 point margin – the biggest landslide
in a Georgia governor’s race in two decades.
